Last year was full of amazing beauty tips and it is almost impossible to pick my favorite tip. My favorite beauty tip is something for men and women and for all skin types. What is it?
Well, since skin is one of your most important fashion accessories, I wanted to choose a tip that can help literally everyone with their skin. In the winter, as the air cools, the air loses it’s ability to hold moisture. Dry air causes dry skin and cracked lips – not a hot look on anyone. Applying makeup on dry skin sometimes makes your skin look worse – every line seems to crack even further. OMG – serious beauty emergency! So what is the solution to this problem, besides a tropical vacation? Sleep with a cool mist humidifier next to your bed! Apply some fabulous skin care products first – then let the cool midst humidifier moisten your skin while you sleep!
So what’s the science behind my best weapon? (I was a science major and love science.) Mayo Clinic recently came out with a study that stated, “An optimum humidity level in your home is between 30 and 50 percent. Low humidity can cause dry skin, irritate your nasal passages and throat, and make your eyes itchy. High humidity can make your home feel stuffy and can cause condensation on walls, floors and other surfaces that triggers the growth of harmful bacteria, dust mites, and molds. These allergens can cause respiratory problems and trigger allergy and asthma flare-ups.” Who knew cool winter air could cause so many problems beyond ruining your beautiful skin? Another cool device is a hygrometer (humidistat) that tells you what the humidity level is in your room.
Personally, I don’t want my sexy bedroom to look like a hospital room, so I sleep with a Cool Mist Humidifier that looks like a vase from Sharper Image. It sells for $79 and the stylish looking vase lights up in different colors! You can also buy a humidifier with a built in humidistat but it might look a little bit more like the hospital room variety. This beauty trick is an investment you will thank me for passing along! It is 2Di4!
